Review and Reflect

Today marks the end of our first year together! On July 12, 2011 this devotional blog began in response to a sermon I heard in which the congregation was challenged to increase their devotional time by just 2 minutes. That challenge instigated the birth of this effort. On day number 365, I want to review and encourage.

If you have remained faithful to the reading of this blog AND you have done the Bible readings that go along with each post, you have read the books of Amos, 1 and 2 Samuel and are over half way through 1 Kings! (In addition to that, we also took 10 weeks during the year to recognize Advent and Lent, which took us into other readings and discussions.) That is exciting! Looking back over progress always helps us realize that we have indeed moved forward. For some, the reading of the Bible is a daily habit so to have read through a few books would be no big deal. But it is my experience that most people don't fall into that category. Hopefully, you are celebrating a new habit in your life for that was the goal of the blog.

We will continue. This is by no means an end but simply a recognition of a great beginning. We are just getting to the good stuff about Elijah and Elisha. After finishing 1 Kings, we will move through 2 Kings and then on to something new. It has been a learning experience for me as well as very rewarding to share my thoughts about each reading. I pray that God will continue to bless your studies and draw you ever closer to His heart.
